This month is dedicated to Charlene Irwin. For those of you who may not know Charlene that is because she very rarely makes it to Crossfit in broad day light. Her busy life, being a working mom, wife, endurance running and Crossfit require discipline which she demonstrates by training with us at 5am 3 x week. We decided that Charlene deserved this months member of the month as not only has she brought many friends to the box, bumping up the numbers in her 5am class growing our Crossfit family, she has also been a loyal member for about 4 years – now if that is not dedication then I don’t know what is.
As member of the month we asked Charlene some questions about her Crossfit experience.
CFB: How long have you been with us At CFFB? Do you remember your first workout?
CI: +-4 years I think.
Don’t remember the first workout but I do remember being unable to lift my arms to drink coffee after doing the beginners course.
CFB: How would you compare your previous lifestyle with the one that is today?
CI: Definitely used to be more body conscious to be skinny, now my focus is on being the strongest version of me.
CFB: Favorite Lift/ Least Favorite Lift:
CI: I don’t have a least favorite lift, I love the challenge of the lifts. But my least favorite part of a WOD is without a doubt double unders!!!
CFB: Calories don’t count. Describe your most epic cheat meal.
CI: Steers chips for main meal and Milky Bar with Jelly Tots for desert.
CFB: If you could design the perfect workout for yourself that would it be?
CI: Absolutely love Functional Fridays.
CFB: Advice to anyone wanting to start CrossFit?
CI: Be patient with your progress and don’t compare yourself to anybody else, the rewards are guaranteed. You can do it!! CrossFit is for everyone!
